Evaluation

MEST2 : EVALUATION

The film that I worked on was with 3 other members, Sunny, Ladan and Rashida. We were working on a psycho thriller movie, with a bunch of other students that were experienced with acting. We then called our production, ‘Transgression’. Our initial plans for our film was going to be an ‘Urban life’ movie but we felt that once we started to make our script and other elements of planning, we also wanted to use the ‘romance’ genre which then gave us more to write about and made it more creative. This is because of the fact that we made the movie, the opposite of romance as one of the main protagonists had killed the other.

We also spent a lot of time doing focus group research. This is basically where we spent the most of our time planning by looking at our target audience. Another thing is that we looked at different types of movies that were trying to inspire us, coming up with an idea of a movie.

The planning section for us was the most difficult part of the whole MEST2. We had watched a lot of arthouse movies to get a good idea of what we can do and once watching those movies, we got the idea from a movie called ‘Drive’. This is an arthouse crime thriller movie that starred Ryan Gosling, Carey Mulligan and many more successful actors. The part that we were inspired from this film was ‘The Elevator Scene’. This is where Ryan Gosling and the other character were kissing inside the elevator with another man standing next to them; He then killed him as he was a target to Ryan Gosling in the movie. Our idea was to use a similar sort of idea for the scene but twist it a little. Instead of the main character killing another man, he would kill the women he was in love with.
From looking at the brief, it tells us that we have to make the production itself a 15 rating movie. In order to do this, we went onto the BBFC website to look at what makes a movie, a 15 certificate. On the website it gave a list of the criteria and the thing that we took out of the list were the extreme violence and also the use of swearing words. For extreme violence, we decided to use a weapon (prop) which was suitable in public and also used fake blood on the main protagonists.

Furthermore, I believe that our target audience for this film is between the ages of 16-28 with a mixture of the audience being male and females. This film is more of a low brow film which means that the audience are less likely going to be young and not as much educated as others who would be into movies that were related to educational movies (highbrow). The psychographic group that I would put this target audience with, is mainstreamers. The reason I believe that our target audience are mainstreamers is because they seek security. Our extract is about a girl who thinks she is safe but really isn’t as she is going to be killed by one of her best friends. Therefore, the role of a mainstreamer is to be safe and they most likely go by the saying of ‘Trust no one apart from yourself’ which is also written in my double page spread; this is a message to everyone as they shouldn’t do anything that they do not want to. Also, I believe that another psychographic group are reformers. This is an audience that are slightly older and more educated. These audiences are people who are seeking a challenge and get out of their ways to watch an arthouse and more complicated movie rather than your average ‘everyday’ blockbuster movie.

Personally, I believe that the target audience for this movie would be the type of audience that would watch films 'on demand' (catch up TV) and also, they would use devices such as a tablet, laptop or even their mobile phones. Considering they are a target audience in the demographic groups between A-C1 means that they are going to be more educated than the people that are in the groups C2-E. This means that they are most likely going to have busy days and hardly anytime where they can sit down and watch TV. Therefore, our target audience would watch our movie ‘on demand’ considering the lack of free time and would most likely watch it on brands, e.g. Netflix. In my opinion, I believe that our target audience was lived up to this because since our movie is an arthouse movie, it means that it would take a lot of thinking and this is where the educated audience would come in and like to watch movies that are quite unusual to the normal society.

One of the key moments that I believe that we did well on was the spinning the bottle scene. In this scene, we did a lot of editing and camerawork to make it work. First of all, it started with the main protagonists spinning the bottle at a medium close up shot. Then we made a straight cut edit which then changed the view of the camera. The camera angle was then transformed into a point of view shot. The point of view shot was of the bottle spinning and looking at everyone in the circle until it had landed onto the main protagonist. As the bottle was spinning, we added non-diegetic music in the background. This suggests to the audience that something bad is going to happen because this music is something that would be played in a scary movie.

Another key moment was the killing scene. This is where we used more background music but in this case, it was parallel. This was parallel because of the fact that it went with the theme of the scene (sense of horror). Also, before the part where the killing took place, we used a vertigo shot which was most commonly used by a director called Alfred Hitchcock; it was also used in a popular movie called Jaw (non-arthouse). The vertigo shot is a zooming technique where the foreground remains stable but the background expands backwards which plays with the audiences mind as they may think that it’s a point of view shot but really it isn’t. Also, we used a variety of shot/reverse shot between the two actors when the actor ‘Grace’ thought something suspicious was going on.

The last and final key moment was at the very beginning. This is where we used one shot which was done in a panning technique were the camera would move from side to side. This is very effective to the audience because when the camera moves, the audiences eyes are moving with them which would almost make the audience feel as if they are a part of the movie too. Also, we had the same background and contrapuntal sound as we did in the bottle scene. This is where the effect had started and suggested to the audience that something was going to go wrong.

Personally, I believe that our weakness in this extract was the camera movement. This is because a lot of the times, the camera was too shaky when it shouldn't have been; At some places, we did try to change it but it didn't work due to the weather conditions and the lack of equipment that we had which I would think was us back.

With my print work, I used many different cinema brochures to get an idea of what they are meant to look like; I used the BFI Film brochures. Also, throughout my print work, I used one colour scheme which was black, red and white.

On my front cover, I believe that there are much strength with two of them being the way that the photo of the character was taken and the composition.  As you can see, if a rule of thirds grid was placed onto the front cover, the photo of the protagonist is placed in the middle, which makes it the centre of attention to the audience. Also, I had made a strip at the bottom with some of the main films written at the bottom which makes it appealing to the audience; if it was blank, the reader wouldn't find it appealing as they don't know what will be inside the print. My last and final point is that I had also used a strapline next to the characters photo which is describing the actor as 'The Next Big Thing'; this is a strength because this is a small phrase describing him as a good actor which is also appealing to the readers.

Along with my contents page, the strengths that I thought were the descriptions below the movies on the contents page. This is because I made sure that they were short and snappy which would make it more exciting for the readers as they would want to go onto that specific page. On the other hand, I believe that the weakness of this contents page is that it is too plain and I should've added more pictures near the main picture on the right.

In addition, my double page spread has more strengths than weaknesses in my opinion. This is because I believe that I have done everything that is usually required for a double page spread; I used an overlapping picture, I also talked about the movie itself and what happened it in, I used a main heading and subheadings and I also used smaller behind the scene still images.

From what we had been working on, the representation that we created in our work was that we tried to use different people from different ethnicity backgrounds. Most commonly, when making films, the majority of people in England and all over the world, a group of people from a white ethnic minority are been used to act in films which is now known as a stereotype but we tried to change that way of thinking and used people from other backgrounds and a mixture of male and female.
Therefore, I believe that by making this film, we had subverted the stereotypical representations as it was also intentional. To conclude, I am very happy by our decision because it gets the viewers thinking and getting them to watch something that is against the stereotypes.

The representation theory that I think is linked to Dyer's theory as this is also linking to power and shows that the male, in the extract, was more powerful than the female. This also leads to the fact that the male are more dangerous than female which is a negative representation for the male. Us as a society have a way of seeing things meaning that men have more power and the women look up at men. In our extract, we showed the male protagonist as a civil character but when he was all alone with the female character, he showed his real, true self which is stating the theory of Dyer.

I believe that if I had made a film blog, I would have made many links to our movie. For example, the film will be in a brochure which goes by the name of The Little Picturehouse and therefore, I would've made a link e-media link which would take you to that page about the film; I would also publish screenshots of whatever else is linked to our movie 'Transgression'. This will allow the audience to go to those links and get a better feel about our movie. In order to make this more attractive to the audience and for those who have watched the movie, I would have a different section of the film blog which will allow the audience to take part in quizzes and also more updates on when or if the movie 'Transgression' will be screening at different arthouse cinemas. The ideas that I would be inspired by is Plan B’s website; His website looks like a social media site but it’s only him giving updates of where mostly, every single film that was made has got a social media account whether it being Facebook, Twitter or even Instagram. On the accounts, they post updates about when DVD's, interviews etc are coming out. With our movie, I would've made these different accounts and link it to the blog, so when something interesting has been posted, it will get updated onto the film blog too.

To conclude, I believe that we successfully met our original brief and we did more than what we had planned to do initially. In addition, I think that our product will be a success but not for everyone. This is because, as mentioned above, this is a movie that is for the young and less educated and not everyone will like a movie like this, mainly the elder audience.

Print Work Draft

With this first edit of my contents page, I am still missing a few pictures which will go into the white boxes and the background that I have used is just temporary. My original background plan is to have a picture of numerous trees that will create a field that looks like the woods with adding a darkness effect to it.

United 93 : Review

United 93 is a movie that is based on 9/11. A plane, by the  name of 93, got hijacked which is what the setting is in the movie but there were also another three planes that were also hijacked. The people who monitor the airplanes were the ones who realised that something wrong was going on. Once the terrorists had started to hijack plane '93', the monitors of those planes tried to get communication to the people on the plane; they tried to get communication to the pilots but they had been killed or injured. Also, those people were also trying to find where the hijacked planes were allocated so they could send other planes out to see what was happening. Therefore, the only people they had were the passengers on board who had the airplane phones by them. Some of the passengers would get messages through to their loved ones because they knew that their life was in jeopardy. The terrorists were either praying or wearing an explosive device. Passengers, on plane 93, tried to do as much as they could by fighting back the terrorists but they were all armed and was too scary - one did manage to get injured but there more controlling the plane. No one managed to survive on the planes.

This movie was made to show the audience that what happened on September 11th 2001 was really frightening and to show the audience that these many people had lost their lives including the people who were crushed in the 'twin towers'. Many people had lost their lives for no reason and had to pay between the fight that was going on between the Al-Quaida and the US government.

United 93 is a highly recommended movie as it shows the audience a lot of history that has happened across New York, Washington and other parts of the United States; How many people had lost their lives  and how much money was invested in order to pay for the damages.

BFI Trip Notes

What do UK/International audiences like about British films?

  • The like the fact that it's related to royalty
  • Escapism
  • Something different compared to blockbuster films
  • Crossover/prestige - Films that are based in this genre are mainly to do with documentaries, e.g. War films.
  • Multiplex - Films that have multiple genres
  • Vertigo
  • Warp Films
Producer
  • Spend around 4 years making the actual film
  • Have to do a lot of in depth research
  • Needs to find the right characters to play the role (also in depth)
Women In Black
  • British Horror movie
  • Main protagonist is Daniel Radcliffe.
  • A huge British culture behind the scenes as it is using British characters and is based in Britain
  • Located in more of a Victorian based time
A Royal Night Out
  • More appealing to the non-British audience as they prefer to watch more Royal movies as it is something different compared to the ordinary Hollywood movies
  • However, British audiences will still be fond of it as it based on a country that they live in and some aspects of the movie can be linked to the audience as it is British/Monarchy based.

MEST2 Progress Report – 20 January

Work completed since 6 January
Since the 6th January, we have completed all of the following:
  • They Script for our production
  • Along with that, we have done the storyboard and shot list
  • We have also scheduled when we are going to do our filming, editing and the Print brief
  • Started to prepare all of the props
  • Got our actors for the actors; We have worked really hard with this specific thing because this is one of the main things that we need in order to make a good production. Good acting

Any incomplete pre-production tasks
  • Our class had started our Photoshoot a week earlier than the other class. However, we never had time to do our photoshoot on the 20th of January so we have re-scheduled to do our photoshoot the following Wednesday after school.

Next steps/Action plan
  • Since we have got our characters and all the pre-production work done, we are going to start to do our filming from the 25th January. Along with that, I will start to do the print brief as we're doing the production. This is because some of the pictures from the production will be going onto the film brief and it will therefore, take less time rather than going to the different settings again and again.

Date filming will be complete
  • Our aim to get the filming done by is the second or third week of February. However, there may be some other times when we have to re-shoot some scenes if they do not fit the way we want it to be (whilst doing the editing).

Requirements for photoshoot next week
  • Make sure the main character is wearing dark coloured clothing.
  • Have bright coloured lightings
  • Make sure that half the main characters face is shadowed
  • Also bring the props, e.g. coca cola bottle which is a main prop that will be used in the film

MEST2 Print brief

Research

In this front cover, one of the main things that I have recognized is the positioning of the main title and the colour schemes. As you can see, the part where it says "BFI London Film Festival", it is positioned in the centre of the brochure and is shown really big and bold. Also, with the colour scheme, most brochures with stick to the one colour, e.g. red which symbolises blood etc. However, in this brochure, it has a mixture of everything and is linked to the BFI logo. In that specific logo, it shows red and blue which is almost like blood and water, which is then expressed onto the main title. Under the title is also a date which shows when it was released but next to it shows that the BFI are in partnership with American Express. This shows that the BFI must be a well established brand because of the fact that American Express are as well. The font also is the same but across the whole front page, it is in different sizes. Finally. at the bottom there is a sell line but is hidden. In my opinion, this is different to other magazines is because of the fact that this front cover doesn't really talk about anything apart from telling the title and who is the company that mad this brochure.

Brochure Front Page

The idea I will use from this image is the part where they have the company logo on the top left.

The different characters in here have different facial expressions which I what I would use if I have more than one character in the front page.

With this image, I will like to take the idea of using the main protagonist face being place in the middle.

This front page hardly uses an type of text at all, which is the theme I am looking to go for.

My aim is to find this specific font type because it is very 'arthouse like'.

Contents Page

  • Overlapping image on both sides
  • The main character takes a whole page
  • The colours used on the left are the same as the costume which Spiderman is wearing

  • The main protagonist is on the left covering the whole of that side
  • The different page numbers are spread on the right from top to bottom
  • Only uses black and white with some red.
  • No bright colours are used

  • Dark colours are used only (combination of only three colours)
  • Pages spreaded across the whole page
  • The text is divided into 3
  • Has only one background colour

  • Bright colours are used
  • White background
  • The title 'Contents' is spreaded across two pages
  • Many different small images
  • Combination of blue and pink circles which contains the pages numbers.

  • Red and White coloured title
  • Another contents page where dark colours have been used, yet again
  • Main protagonist is positioned on the right
  • Not that many number pages have been included into this specific contents page.

Planning and Sketching
1) Target Audience Interest

  • Blood and horror since it's a 15 rated movie
  • More teenagers will be interested, therefore making it the actual front cover quite busy with many different text and pictures on it.
  • Main character of the movie with his face in front of the movie title
  • Other movies that will be in the print
  • Not too much writing but make sure it takes a lot of space
2)

3)

4) Double-page spread

  • Quotes from the actual movie
  • Over lapping images
  • "Expect the unexpected"
  • "Don't judge a book by it's cover"
  • The unexpecting scene (Sub-heading)
  • Fearing for the worst
5)

Photoshoot

1) The main character from our production, that I specifically will be using is Jason. This is because he is the one character out of everyone who's has two different sides to himself and with a picture of what I have planned will have a lot to tell the audience before they even see the play.

2) The images that I will need for the 'contents page' is the main setting and scenes from the actual production. This will give the audience a little idea of the story.

3) The images that I will have in the 'doubled-page spread' is every main protagonist that will be shown in the production.

4) SHOT LIST
  • Medium shot of the protagonist (Head to shoulder)
  • Extreme Close up shot of the protagonist
  • Over the head shot of the protagonist
  • Underneath shot
5) For the costume, I will have the main protagonist wearing what he will be wearing in the actual production. He will have no make up. Also, in the photoshoot, my aim is to create a shadow on half of his face which will show the audience that this character will have two different sides to him. Therefore, for my to do this, I will have to bring in a bright light which be shun on one side of his face. Also, I will be bring in a black piece of fabric which will be used as a backdrop. My last and final prop that I will be bringing is a 'coca-cola' bottle which is the main prop that we will be using in the production.

6) The way I am going to prepare myself for the photoshoot on Wednesday is by doing the following:
  • Make sure that the main protagonist is available and there at the photoshoot.
  • Bring all the props that I will be needing in the photoshoot.
  • Have the lighting with me as well
  • Take around 20-30 different angled shots, which I can use in my 'print'.
Double Page Spread

It's the start of a brand new year. Already, many different movies have come out, especially this brand new movie called 'Trangsression' which has been given a 5 star rating by a lot of audiences. Transgression is a movie about one character that gets to change his whole life within one hour.

Plot of the movie
This is a thriller movie about the psychotic teenager that goes by the name of Jason, almost like the character from the Friday the 13th movies. However, one day this character was on a broken down rooftop  which four of his friends.  The five of  them then decided to play a game of spin the bottle once they had finished the coke bottle. Whoever the bottle landed on, had an hour to change their life. It landed on Jason. He decided that he wanted to go with one of his friends Grace to a discrete area. All of his other mates thought that Jason liked her or something but that wasn't the actual outcome. It turned out that he wanted to end Graces life due to the mental health problems he had. Eventually, Grace died and no one was able to find her since the area was very discrete.

Fearing for the worst
The other main character, Chloe, must've felt very weird because out of no where, one of her friends wanted to go someone. Therefore, she didn't know if this was going to be a good or bad thing or if this was a death scenario.

"Expect the unexpected"
This is a quote that has a massive impact on this whole movie. Everyone who knew Jason was a really lovely and nice human being. However, no one really established who the real 'Jason' was under that fake personality he was showing everyone.

"Don't judge a book by its cover"
This also has another massive impact due  to the same reason as  the other quote. People thought Jason is nice but no one really knew who he is until they really get under his skin and then find out who he really is. Also, the other friends who played short scenes in this production, weren't really good friends because they would always 'back chat' about everyone towards their face. Therefore, the audience would wonder if they were even real friends.

Characters
All of these character who performed in the production are from Greenford which is a town in West London. They are all upcoming actors and have bright futures ahead of themselves.
Izaaz has already performed in different types of movies for example, 'The Equation' which was presented by a group of four teenagers that go to Greenford High School which turned out to be a success.
If you guys out there thought this was good, make sure you tune in, in 2017 when we start to make the second part to this.

Questions
·        Without looking above, who was the girl was murdered and who was the one who killed that character?
·        What was the two main props used in that film?

·        At the beginning of the production, where was the film taken?

MEST2 : Pre Production Edited

SCRIPT : TRANSGRESSION

FADE IN, ESTABLISHING SHOT OF LOCATION

EXT. THE SUBURBS OF LONDON. THERE ARE TEENAGERS WHO ARE

SITTING AT AN ABANDONED ROOFTOP DAY

CUT TO A MEDIUM LONG SHOT OF THE TEENAGERS

Fade in,to an establishing shot of the location. Cut to a

medium long shot of the teenagers.

A group of teenagers, three females and two males, are

sitting in a circle. Their friendship is quite strong

hence the chatter that is taking place; some of them have

known each other for years but recently a new member JASON

has joined. Amongst the teenagers is an empty CocaCola

bottle. JASON

(eager and excited)

Alright, so it’s a really

simple game. Pretend that this

bottle is your life and it

literally holds your fate.

Cut to a close up of the bottle as JASON presents it and

puts it in the middle of the circle to spin the bottle. JASON

So by spinning the bottle,

you’re taking the risk to

gamble your life. Whoever it

lands on has to change their

life within an... hour?

Medium shot of JASON, the camera tracks his actions as he

spins the once more. Cut to a reverse shot of LUCIA who

stops the bottle from spinning. LUCIA

(Rolls her eyes, annoyed)

That is the stupidest thing I

have heard all day.

DEVON gives LUCIA a slight nudge on the shoulder and grabs

her cheek. DEVIN

(teasing)

Give it a rest, Lucia! You’re

always killing the fun. Might

have to start calling you

“killjoy” from now on.

LUCIA pushes DEVON away with force and there is small

laughter amongst everyone.GRACE

(quietly, with admiration)

I think it’s a pretty cool

idea, to be honest.

Cut to over the shoulder shots as JASON winks at GRACE as

she smiles back. TYRA

(pleadingly)

C’mon Lucia, stop being so

negative. What’s the harm in

having a little fun?

LUCIA

(Unimpressed tone)

Ugh, fine. Whatever. Let’s

play your shitty game then.

JASON makes sharp eye contact with LUCIA. JASON

(In a tense tone)

Alright, let’s play then.

Cut to a high angle shot of the bottle spinning, like a bird’s

eye view. Cut to P.O.V of the bottle spinning as it slows

down.

The bottle comes to a halt and there is a silence amongst the

teenagers. The atmosphere is quite tense and the bottle stops

on JASON, indicating that he has been chosen.

LUCIA

(scoffing)

Well well well, what a fucking

coincidence! The bottle has

landed on the “chosen one”,

now go off and do your stupid

little dare. TYRA

Leave it, Lucia. What are you

going to do Jason?

JASON

(thoughtfully)

I don’t know... Something

interesting or daring I guess.

Cut to a medium tracking shot of JASON walking towards GRACE.

Close up of JASON offering his hand. JASON

Would you give me the honour

of helping me change my life

within an hour?

Medium close up shot of GRACE. GRACE has a surprised yet keen

look on her face as she takes his offer by taking his hand.

Cut to medium shot of her taking his hand, medium low angle

shot of JASON as he offers his hand. GRACE

(sense of eagerness, imitating

Why of course! That would be

absolutely splendid!

posh voice)

DEVIN

(teasing)

Someone’s getting a little bit

too excited! I wonder what

they’re going to do.

Medium shot of TYRA as she understands what is happening and

joins in on the teasing with a wink at GRACE and a smirk. TYRA

(teasing)

Don’t do anything that I

wouldn’t do, you two!

Medium shot of JASON and GRACE leaving with their backs to the

group and camera. LUCIA

(mumbles with a suspicious

Something doesn’t seem

tone)

right... EXT. Secluded forest area with an

obscure dirt pathway, near woods DAY

Medium low angle shots of trees clearings, and general cuts to

shots of the surrounding area. JASON and GRACE are seen

walking together in the woods. GRACE, an introvert, is too shy

to ask about JASON’S plan and she continues to follow him, who

is increasingly slowing behind her.

Close up shot of JASON reaching for GRACE’S hand. Cut to a

close up of her expression, reverse shot to him pulling his

hand back.

Medium shot as JASON slows down behind GRACE. GRACE turns

around to face JASON. GRACE

(nervously)

What’re you doing Jason?

JASON

(facing away, quietly)

Oh nothing, I’m just looking

around. Keep walking. GRACE

(nervously)

Erm, okay. I guess.

GRACE turns back around and continues walking. Over the

shoulder shot of JASON aimed at GRACE’S back. GRACE

(As she is turning around to

Hey, what are you gonna do for

your da?

face him)

Slow motion vertigo shots of GRACE as JASON grabs at her neck

and gets her into a choke hold. Close up shot of GRACE’S hands

struggling to push away JASON. Medium shot of JASON throwing

her to the ground. JASON

(Ominous and hysterical tone)

YOU NEVER KNOW WHEN TO SHUT

UP! YOU TALK TOO MUCH. JASON

YOU’RE SO FUCKING ANNOYING.

With each strike, JASON exclaims and hits her with hysteria. JASON

(Panting from exhaustion and

putting force with every word)

WHY... THE... FUCK...

AREN’T... YOU... DYING?!

POV shots of GRACE as JASON continues to beat her with blood

splattering all over him. The camera begins the blur more and

more slightly as GRACE is beaten.

GRACE

(pleading)

Please... stop...

Medium shot as JASON comes close to her and watches her face,

bloody, bruised and beaten. The camera is rotated on the x

axis at an angle to create a sense of disorientation. He looks

at her with contentment.

He lands one final blow on her head to kill her and throws the

bat away. JASON

(As he kicks the limp body)

I never knew it would take

people so long to die.

As he is panting with exhaustion and cleaning his face/hands

of the blood. JASON

(Mumbles)

This life is nothing but an

illusion; we must fulfil the

needs that lie within our

hearts.

Medium/long shot of JASON walking away in the background, with

GRACE’S lifeless and bloody hand focused in the foreground. CUT TO BLACK.

Mise en scene

Cinematography/Inspirations

Gone Girl, in terms of the mentally disturbed protagonist and the general psychological .

In terms of cinematography and actual filming styles:

House of Cards, different depths and variety of things being in focus/ out focus, foreground/background etc

Whiplash, use of colours and palettes
Drive, use of colours and palettes, and general cinematography, possible use of soundtrack
Run Lola Run, use of solid colour tint overlays which helps to drive the narrative and multiple personality or narratives of characters.
Trance, use of editing in post production to create disorientating effects etc
Edgar Wright (Scott Pilgrim, Hot Fuzz), possible use of the "montage" stylised cutting of scenes.

Casting

The characters with the most focus during the 3 minute extract will be Grace and Jason. Atousa will be playing Grace. Izaaz will be playing Jason. Lucia, Tyra and Devon will be played by

Locations

A quiet and reserved area such as the woods near a park will be needed for the scene where Jason kills Grace. Another area where the entire location looks abandoned and old will be used for where the teenagers are hanging out.

Props

The props needed are a baseball bat which could be substituted later if we don't find one. Also a bottle will be needed as it is the central part of story line.

Possible props, cigarettes, beer/alcohol containers?

Costume and Make up

Normal clothing because the characters are all teenagers, make up will be needed for the violence and the blood when Grace is killed.

Jason - Typical guy outfit (jeans, t shirt, hoodie, trainers) extremely casual almost bordering on the sense of lazy. Generally needs to have a very "rugged" and not caring look to his attire. This generally to show the idea of how he reflects himself as disorganised and unlike normal stylish guys.

Devin - A bit more stylish but also casual, shows his a lot more trendy and generically up beat personality. He's a lot more of a laid back but cultured guy and likes to show it.

Lucia - Fashionable and trendy attire, as she's considered and seen by her peers as a "popular girl". This has to be portrayed appropriately through her costume. It must still hold to the casual theme of teenagers.

Grace - She's a lot more of a shy and reserved girl who doesn't care too much about how she presents herself. She still wants to look good so that she can fit in with her peers and so tries her best to reflect her personality of being a nice and shy person through her costume.

Tyra - Laid back and but generally a much more perspective person who isn't easily fooled. She's shown as very casual and chilled. Use of hoodies would be good to show this and matched with trainers and t shirts.

Lighting

Generally, we will use natural day lighting but can use some high key lighting to create dramatic emphasis if need be. Lighting will have to be essential to create a vivid colour palette that resembles an indie film such as Drive.
