Arthouse film screening: extra homework

Run Lola Run (Review)

The film Run Lola Run was very fast paced. This movie was about a lady and her friend who was in big trouble; They were both the main protagonists but the girl red headed girl had a bigger part to play despite it being her friends fault. In the beginning, it started of with her friend losing a bag with a lot of money in it which needed to be given to someone very dangerous. However, someone stole that bag. Then the main protagonist had to help her friend and went across many different friends. Some how she kept repeating herself by going back in time and finding different ways in getting that money back, which her friend had lost to a homeless man who only had a couple of bags and a bike. Sometimes, in order to get it her own way, she would scream extremely loud so that she gets everyone to pay attention to her.

The camera movements of the film would always be very quick and at a fast pace; It would always use the panning movement, This is because of the main protagonist always running to find the quickest possible solution to help her friend. This is due to the fact that she only had 20 minutes to find the money in the quickest possible way and which was conveyed three different times. When the character was running, they would always show a long shot of her but never a close up. This is probably to show the audience that she is running quite quickly in a large area and where it is very time consuming.

Also, there were a numerous shot/reverse shots that happened throughout the entire movie. This was done when there was a two way conversation happening between the many characters throughout the play. There would also being different diegetic sounds being played in the background. This is known to be diegetic because it was a fast and pacey sort of song and it was only being played while the red headed lady (main protagonist) was running which went quite well and it was fast linking up with fast.
