Media Awards - Homework

My favorite productions from the media awards was Labrat, which won the best cinematography production. I think that this was the best for me because it clearly met the criteria for the whole of film language. As you could see through out the whole of the production, it used a variety of medium shots, extreme close ups, close ups and long shots. A great long shot was used when the main protagonist was punched in the face by the other, as it showed what type of atmosphere it was in and where it was located, e.g. it looked like a rough area so dangerous people might be located there. Also, I know that he was the main protagonist because throughout the whole production it would show medium close ups of him and he was the only one talking. There was a sound bridge through the whole of the production. This is because it started off with the main protagonist talking to the camera and then the voice of his had overlapped through the whole production when he was talking about his life. Also, at the ending, there was a contrapuntal sound going across different clips of someone making some sort of drink in the lab.

As you can see, there was quite a lot of different film language terms in this production, so this is why I believe this was the best.

My second favorite production was 'The Experiment'. This is because of the panning movement which was used a lot in this production. I think that the panning movement was used because it wanted to show the audience what type of area she was in and how big it was. It also created suspense because it looked like it was in the middle of no where, where the main protagonist had no where to go. Also, the girl in this was the main protagonist because although we saw many different camera shots, you realized she was the main character because she was the only person that was in the production that you could clearly see. This one also had a sound bridge across the whole production. This was the same as the first production because it had just the one person talking throughout the whole production. This play was filmed outside and was it was filmed during autumn time because you could see many leaves on the ground.
